Delayed Weekend farmer’s market blogging: October 2nd, 2011

Wasn’t able to post this yesterday b/c I had to get to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in time to see Ralph Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys — but not before another great trip to the farmer’s market.

This week, we left with: merguez sausage, Italian sausage, goat meat, tofu, parsley, tat soi, chinese broccoli, rapini, striped beets, rainbow chard, many kinds of peppers & tomatoes, eggplant, artichokes, padron peppers, leeks, spring onions, salad greens (arugula, watercress, radicchio, lettuce, etc), cucumber, cauliflower, chinese long beans, fresh figs, grapes, pluots, strawberries (3 pints for $5!), & honey. Pretty awesome.

And on the menu from these delicious things? Yesterday was grilled merguez, roasted beets with sage & garlic, and artichokes; desert was figs, strawberries, and Parmesan with balsamic.

Tonight will be pasta with the parsley, rapini, peppers, & Italian sausage.

Later in the week the goat will find itself in a delicious curry with eggplant, and that tofu is gonna go great with the long beans, chinese broccoli, and tat soi.

And somewhere along the line there’ll be a tomato & cucumber salad, and a roasted cauliflower.
